The poor farmer did not have the means to repair the Goddess Tie Quan Yin's temple so twice each month he would sweep and clean. After a few months, Tie Quan Yin appeared to him in a dream and revealed the location of a hidden treasure with instructions to share it with the town. The treasure was a seedling, which the farmer planted. Soon after the bush produced leaves which made the most desired tea. The town prospered and named the tea after the goddess and her temple.
